Upcoming NOACA Meetings for May 2017
Posted Date: 5/1/2017 9:30 AM
CLEVELAND (Monday, May 1, 2017)—NOACA committees and staff will hold meetings on the following dates and times. The public is welcome to attend these meetings.

Designing Pedestrian Facilities for Accessibility
Dates and Times: Thursday, May 4, 8:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Friday, May 5, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Place: NOACA, 1299 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114
Facilities in the public right-of-way (including walkways, ramps, curb ramps and landings, crosswalks, and pedestrian overpasses and underpasses) must be designed, constructed and maintained to serve all users. To meet the needs of all users, those involved with designing, building and maintaining infrastructure need a clear understanding of the wide range of abilities that occur within the population and the challenges in the public right-of-way faced by persons with disabilities. This course will identify applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards pertaining to accessibility for persons with disabilities. Requirements for ensuring accessibility in existing facilities versus work in new construction and alternations will be discussed. Design elements necessary for achieving accessibility in the public right-of-way will be reviewed. Best practices will be identified.
NOTE: This class has a fee ($100 for government employees and $250 for others), and registration is required. To register, visit ODOT’s registration site.
